When a child overhears her Mummy telling Susan that the old bat is coming to stay, their imagination runs wild. They are curious and a little apprehensive about the Old Bat. The child’s mind races with possibilities: Would the Old Bat be big or small, tall or short? Surely, they would have wings!

Adults talk a lot! And what we say can often be confusing to children - misinterpreted. For many children, this is a phase. For some children, such as those who are neurodivergent, this confusion can be longer-term and impact on development, learning and life. This story is a gentle lean in to how our words can be misunderstood and impactful.

Enveloped in an educational and humorous story with gorgeous illustrations, this story is a great bedtime read or for a classroom with many continuous provision opportunities.

Marnie and the Great Ketchup Catastrophe

Marnie loved ketchup more than birthdays, bouncing castles and staying up past bedtime. She ate it in sandwiches, squirted it into her cereal and even washed her hair with it. Pickle thought she was delicious!

But one terrible Tuesday, Marnie’s bottle made a tiny PFFFFT! The cupboards were bare, the supermarket shelves were empty and the ketchup factory had some dreadful news. Marnie had eaten it all!

With one small, wrinkly tomato, a town full of helpers and some very unusual plant pots, can Marnie bring the ketchup back before dinner?

A gloriously silly story about teamwork, trying new things and discovering that sometimes food tastes rather wonderful just as it is.

Plot Twist: ADHD

For many people with ADHD, phrases like these become part of the background noise of growing up, learning, working and simply trying to navigate a world that often expects brains to work in one particular way.

PLOT TWIST: ADHD takes 44 familiar criticisms and looks at them from a different perspective.

Each one explores what might actually be happening beneath the behaviour, reframes the negative language, translates it into something useful for everyday life, education and work, and invites you to think about your own strengths, needs and experiences.

This isn’t about pretending ADHD is always a superpower. ADHD can be difficult, frustrating and disabling. It’s about recognising that struggling with something doesn’t make you a failure, and that the words used to describe you don’t have to become the words you use to describe yourself.
